Goodness, we are living in a crazy world right now. One day you can have 30 guests, the next it’s 15, or if you’re in Scotland it’s still 30… well, who actually knows anymore?? However, I think one thing we can probably all agree on, the lavish 200+ person wedding bashes ain’t happening for the next 6 months (unless you’re one of those who think it’s cool to break the law and just throw a 200 person reception anyway!). So if you’ve reconciled yourself to having a gorgeous, intimate ceremony with just your very dearest friends and family (and what could be more beautiful than that?), we’ve lined up our favourites to help you choose the perfect wedding dress for a small ceremony.
So, pre-COVID (remember those days? When you didn’t shudder when you saw people on an old tv episode shake hands??), you may have picked out your PERFECT wedding dress. You dreamed about it for months, imagining yourself walking down the aisle with half a dozen bridesmaids following you. But now that you’ve had to cut your guest list by about 80%, and most of your bridesmaids can’t even come, that dress you had your eye on probably doesn’t seem quite right any more.
So what is the perfect wedding dress for a small ceremony?
Well, while we would never, ever tell you you can’t wear whatever the hell you have your heart set (you rock it sister!), generally a smaller ceremony, in a smaller venue, suits a smaller dress. A few less layers, a slightly smaller skirt… You may have downsized your venue from a large reception hall to a gorgeous, candle lit restaurant. You may simply have less room for a huge skirt to flounce around!
Luckily, we have a huge selection of absolutely stunning simple, A-line or fitted dresses that would be the perfect wedding dress for a small ceremony.
Here are some of our favourites:
Dallas by Bianco Evento is such a favourite with our brides. No wonder, with the perfect combination of a deep plunging V neck (which somehow still manages to err on the side of demure), on-trend modern lace top and silky skirt, she’s a stunner. In a more modern setting of a small intimate restaurant reception, Dallas would be a great choice for a small ceremony wedding dress.
Quiro by Aire Barcelona. Quiro is simply gorgeous, and 100% perfect for a small wedding. She sits somewhere in between a gorgeously sexy wedding dress and Hollywood siren red carpet number.
If you like the idea of a deep v neckline wedding dress for your small wedding ceremony we have loads of options.
So you want a big dress anyway??
Well, we did say we will never tell you what you should wear. Except to say, you should wear whatever makes you happy. And if a big dress is going to make you happy, then you SHALL GO TO THE BALL. But we have a suggestion.
How about pairing a slim wedding dress (ideal for the reception) with a gorgeously swishy, big, princess-y overskirt for your ceremony. Best of both worlds? Well you’re in luck cause we have a few options for you!
Step 1: pick your fitted wedding dress. You can choose pretty much anything you like, so long as it doesn’t have a very big skirt itself.
Step 2: add a skirt. Va-va-voom. Instant big dress, and you basically get to have two dresses. Cause who said a small wedding means cutting back on luxuries??
