How one of our co-founders at The Boutique & Co chose her dream dress and the details from her London wedding!
One of the biggest perks from working with brides, is hearing back from them about their wedding day, how much they loved their dress and seeing all the photos from their celebration! We absolutely love when our real brides tell us the stories and details from their special day. So we thought we’d share them here as well and spread the love!
Tori is one of the owners & co-founders of The Boutique & Co. This meant she had a great variety of dresses she was already familiar with to try on for her wedding! She married her partner Simon on the 7th of August 2021, in a small but beautiful evening wedding celebration. Tori visited The Boutique & Co in April 2021 to officially try on wedding dresses. However, she had previously tried on many in the shop being one of the owners! We asked Tori some questions about her wedding so she could tell us all the details & how she chose her dress!

Describe your bridal shopping experience with us
‘I actually own the shop, so I didn’t visit but I had already tried on all of the dresses in store which meant when I had to order over email in lockdown. I had at least tried on a lot of different styles. The problem was my now husband had already seen me in them either on social media or because I used to send him pictures! (I realise now that was not a great idea!) So I couldn’t buy any of the styles we already stocked!’
Describe the moment you found your dream dress with us
‘I picked my dress from pictures on the Aire Barcelona website. I knew the fit I liked and I liked the crepe fabric. Because I couldn’t get to the shop because of lockdown, I had to either go with something I had tried on or something similar. I ordered a size up so that I could have the seamstress alter the fit to my preferences. Finally, I tried my dress on for the first time at the end of June (six weeks before my August wedding). At first I didn’t love it, because it didn’t fit but once I tried it on at the seamstress with the right underwear, all pinned in and fitted I did! Definitely don’t under estimate the difference having the dress fitted properly makes.’

What did your partner think of your dress? How did they react when they saw you in it for the first time?
‘He loved it, and had no idea what I had picked. He thought it would have a lot of lace but I had gone for something with no lace, just crepe and beading. That said, he always points out clothes in the shops that I would never wear and don’t look anything like what I usually wear, so I wasn’t expecting him to guess!!’

What was your wedding day like?
‘We had a central London wedding and it rained so much, but as we live in Spain we actually thought it was hilarious. We got married at Fitzrovia Chapel and then had a Routemaster bus take us to The Ivy at Tower Bridge for dinner. It was very simple evening wedding with just 40 of our closest friends and family. We planned it so that if the restrictions in numbers were still in place we could go ahead still. (We never confessed who we would have had to cut!) Thankfully though we had no restrictions on the day and it was a lovely little break from the COVID madness.
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
‘It’s so hard to pick a moment I loved the whole day. But I’d say probably walking down the aisle with my stepson. He was 4 and he just loved his special job. It was the most perfect way to include him in the ceremony. One of my friends had been training him all morning to do a James Bond move at the end of the aisle, but when he got there he gave his Dad their secret handshake and then went and climbed on Nanny’s lap. It was just so cute. (He did the James Bond impression for the rest of the day though, between sneaking pieces of cake!)’
